Rumor has it that Pinhatt Peak in Da Lat has been fenced off, no more hiking allowed. But with my dangerously curious soul and love for mountains, I couldn’t resist sneaking in for one secret climb. And by fate (or luck?), I met an unexpectedly handsome “guide,” turning that little rebellion into one of my most memorable adventures ever.
So here it is,my undercover review of Pinhatt Peak. May not too many people find their way here like I did. A thousand apologies to the sign at the foot of the hill… and to the kind guard!

My Unexpected Guide on the Trail to Pinhatt Peak in Da Lat
The moment we arrived at Pinhatt Peak in Da Lat and took just a few steps, a four-legged “local” came trotting toward us, tail wagging in the friendliest hello.

Half-jokingly, I asked, “Wanna climb Pinhatt with us?” and, to my surprise, he happily led the way like a seasoned pro. So just like that, we had a guide — a furry, loyal one. Judging from his confidence, he must’ve accompanied many hikers before us.
Since the paved entry path had been fenced off, we slipped through a short forest trail from outside to “infiltrate” the route. Once we made it through, our secret journey to Pinhatt Peak officially began.
The Trail to Pinhatt Peak

The road to the summit of Pinhatt Peak in Da Lat is now paved, and the mountain isn’t too high — it took us just over an hour to reach the top. As we climbed higher, the slope grew steeper, but the trees thinned out, revealing sweeping views below. Wisps of clouds drifted lazily across the sky, creating an absolutely dreamy scene.

There were several scenic rest stops along the way to Pinhatt Peak in Da Lat, each offering a unique view. Lucky for us, that day was a rare clear day in Da Lat’s rainy season, perfect for soaking in the mountain’s beauty. Our little guide was such a champ. When we stopped, he stopped. When we took photos, he patiently waited, sometimes watching us from behind the camera. Sadly, we never got a photo together.
The Breathtaking View from the Top

After countless sharp turns, we finally reached the summit of Pinhatt Peak in Da Lat — a bald, open peak overlooking Tuyen Lam Lake, glistening like glass below. It was that kind of view that makes you whisper “wow” under your breath. We sat down, resting and taking in the scene while our guide took a nap nearby. When the sun began to grow harsh, we snapped a few more shots and started our descent.

Before parting ways, we thanked our loyal companion with some rice crackers and half a pack of Oreos. He wagged his tail happily, full of energy, walking us back down to where we’d parked — then trotted off into the forest again. I’ll miss that little guide.
Reflections on a Forbidden Adventure
So, curiosity satisfied — I’ve finally seen the “forbidden” Pinhatt Peak in Da Lat. The view alone was worth bending the rules for. Still, for safety, I’d recommend contacting local trekking services or the landowners before visiting.

I love traveling, but not the kind that’s all about “check-ins.” I take my time to feel, to learn — the landscape, the people, the stories, and the culture. Every place I visit, I love it through every season — even the “imperfect” ones.
I believe in protecting the beauty of nature. I’m happy to share stunning spots with everyone — but I hope we can all help preserve them, so the next travelers can feel the same awe I did.
